If you are smart, you won’t have to spend a lot of money and can enjoy your Myrtle Beach vacation on a budget. How do you do that? Here are our 7 ways you can save money on your Myrtle Beach vacation.

1. Shop Around for Affordable Vacation Rental Prices

There is an abundance of options available to you that will help in your Myrtle Beach vacation planning easier. Every year thousands of tourists descend upon Myrtle Beach, and hotels and resorts come out with great deals to attract them. You should try and shop around for the most affordable vacation rental prices as early as you can.

The early bird catches the worm, and when it comes to vacation rental deals, you need to act fast and book a hotel before someone else does. You won’t have any problems in finding a quality, and reasonably priced hotel in the Myrtle Beach area. The best part is that you won’t need to compromise on your overall experience as you can find affordable vacation rentals that offer you amenities such as water parks, lazy rivers, and swimming pools, and more! All you need to do is shop around for the best hotel and vacation rental deals, and you will manage to save a significant amount of money from your vacation budget.

2. Find Free Activities You Can Enjoy on Vacation

The best thing about a Myrtle Beach vacation is that you will find no shortage of free activities that you can enjoy with your friends, family, and little kids. You can do so much fun stuff here without needing to spend a single dollar. The best part is that you can spend quality time with your family at the hotel swimming pool and take evening strolls down to the beach. There are also plenty of shopping malls located here that will be perfect for window shopping.

With so much to do and see, you can be sure that you will never get bored when you are on your Myrtle Beach vacation. There are also several events held during the summer and spring season that bring great joy to families and provides them with great food accompanied by live music. People can try out a host of water sports and even try their hand at shelling, which will give them another unique experience to enjoy at Myrtle Beach.

3. Enjoy the Festivities on a Budget

Most people who visit Myrtle Beach are surprised to learn about the massive variety of things they can enjoy over here. The best part is that you don’t need to spend a lot of cash to have fun here, and you can have an amazing experience for less than $25 a day. There aren’t many places that offer you that range of activities and attractions when you are on vacation on such an affordable budget. So, where can you enjoy these festivities on a budget?

Hollywood Wax Museum
Hollywood Wax Museum

There is the mini-golf course where you can have fun with your kids or your friends playing a round of miniature golf. You can also take a helicopter ride and get a bird’s-eye view of all the scenic surroundings around Myrtle Beach. If you want a fun activity to enjoy with your family, head over to Myrtle Waves Water-park and purchase passes for all-day rides. The amount of money that you save here can then be spent on food later.

4. Search for Coupons and Bring Them with You

Another way to save a lot of money on your Myrtle Beach vacation is to get printouts of coupons that you can later use at restaurants and amusement parks. There are all kinds of coupons sold for Myrtle Beach vacation attractions, which include the likes of coupons for live entertainment, shopping, golf, restaurants, and attractions. You can check out different websites offering these great entertainment coupons and save even more money on your vacation.

All you need to do is bring these coupons with you and then cash them in for any attraction that you want. The best idea would be to print these coupons and carry them with you around Myrtle Beach, and you can then use them in the places where they are accepted. You won’t need to carry around much cash as you will get great discounts from the coupons instead.

5. Choose Vacation Rentals that Have Kitchens

If you are worried about the cost of food and don’t want to spend a fortune on meals in the restaurants around Myrtle Beach, you should choose to stay in resorts that have their own kitchens. That will allow you to cook and prepare your own snacks and meals without needing to dine out in the restaurants or rack up a bill with the resort. There are plenty of local grocery stores where you can buy supplies and prepare your own breakfast and lunch meals.

The biggest expense for most people on vacation is the cost of the food at restaurants. However, if you are staying at a resort that has its own fully equipped-kitchen, you won’t need to worry about that. You can prepare your own meals at less cost than what it could cost you in the restaurant.

6. Save Money on Airline Tickets

You can also choose to fly a low-cost airline carrier and save money on the ticket costs if you are worried about the budget you have for your Myrtle Beach vacation. Numerous airlines fly to Myrtle Beach, and you should buy tickets during the off-season when their prices will be lower. However, if you have a large family or you don’t want to spend on airline tickets, the next best option would be to consider a road trip to Myrtle Beach.

It will take longer, but you will save money and more importantly create unique memories with your family. If time isn’t a factor and you want to save money on airline tickets, going by road is your best option. At the end of the day, your goal should be to have as much fun as you can on your vacation.

7. Don’t Take a Taxi and Walk around Myrtle Beach

You probably won’t know this but the cost of taking a taxi whenever you need to travel around Myrtle Beach can quickly accumulate. Before you know it, all the money you are trying to save will be spent on taxi fares. Even though most people prefer to take an Uber to save money, the best idea would be to walk to your destination. It’s one of the best ways to take in all the sights and attractions that Myrtle Beach has to offer, and it is also healthy for you.

Not only will you get plenty of exercise but will also save a lot of money. Most tourists believe that the best way to experience all the wondrous offerings of Myrtle Beach is on foot. Plus, you won’t need to worry about finding a parking space or needing to rent a car.

Conclusion

If you follow the 7 methods we have mentioned above, you will find that it isn’t difficult to experience the boundless offerings of Myrtle Beach. You don’t need to break the bank or spend more than you want to enjoy your vacation. A smart tourist or traveler knows exactly how much they can spend and how to create memories on a budget. For property owners, safely renting your second property through a professional manager can be an easy and reliable revenue source, transforming it into an asset that offers a significant return on your investment. You’ll also be able to use the property when you choose, spending your own vacations there with family, while renting it to guests the rest of the year.

How to Make the Most of Your Myrtle Beach Vacation: Our Top 10 Tips for Families

Are you thinking about escaping to the beach? Can you already feel the wind in your hair and smell the salty air? Then there’s no better place than Myrtle Beach to plan for a beach vacation! If your family is tired of the winter snow and wants to experience the freshness of the sea breeze, then head on over to Myrtle Beach to experience all the many wondrous activities and attractions here.

The best part is that you don’t even have to spend a lot of money on your Myrtle Beach vacation, and if you are smart, you can easily save money here. So, what are you waiting for? Get out those flip flops and shorts that have been packed away and head on over to this coastal paradise that offers 60 miles of beach, endless activities for the family, and pleasant weather.

Planning a trip to the beach is always exciting, but it can be easy to overlook some of the most obvious things in the middle of the excitement. You don’t want to ruin your Myrtle Beach vacation by forgetting the simple things, which is why we have gathered some tips from repeat visitors and locals to help you make the most of your Myrtle Beach vacation.

1. Pack a Lot of Sunscreen

Sunscreen is something you shouldn’t ever travel without when you’re visiting the beach. You don’t want to get a sunburn and be miserable for the rest of the vacation. So be generous with the sunscreen when applying it to your body, even if it is a cloudy day. Keep on reapplying the sunscreen throughout the day, especially if you are going swimming, and ensure you protect all of your skin.

Most people tend to forget that they need to apply sunscreen on the tops of their feet, their ears, and the tops of their bald heads. There are plenty of tourists who don’t pack enough sunscreen for their Myrtle Beach vacation and then end up walking around with sunburns. Don’t make the same mistake.

2. Hunt for Bargains

A good deal is always around the corner for the savvy shopper, and in the current economy, you know that every dollar counts. The good news is that there are plenty of ways you can save money while you’re at the beach. You can check out the lobby of your hotel for discounts and coupon books that will help you save money.

Another great tip is to look for kids-eat-free deals and early-bird specials when dining out at restaurants. You should also pack snacks and lunch to have at the beach, which will allow you to splurge when you go out for dinner later in the evening.

3. Don’t Miss the Sunrise

One thing that we absolutely recommend to all families that are visiting Myrtle Beach is to experience at least one sunrise here. Sure, the last thing you want to do on vacation is wake-up early or to an alarm clock, but some things are worth it. When you wake up early and see the majestic sunrise over the beach, you will realize it is a sight you wouldn’t want to miss.

You don’t even have to get dressed up and go down to the beach to experience it, even though that is something that we would recommend. Most people prefer to enjoy the view from their hotel balcony, and the best part is that you can always take a nap in the afternoon.

4. Don’t Pack Your Schedule

There’s no doubt that the list of things to do in Myrtle Beach are countless, and you can easily overwhelm yourself if you try to do too many things. Myrtle Beach has plenty of attractions that will keep you busy, and it’s impossible to try and see all of them in one trip. So, don’t pack your schedule completely with stuff, as you’re simply going to go through the motions without enjoying it.

The point of your vacation is that you can relax and take in everything that Myrtle Beach has to offer, but that doesn’t mean that you burn yourself out. Take the stress out of trying to see everything and pick some must-see/to-do activities while saving the rest for next time. After all, once you come to Myrtle Beach for your vacation, you’ll want to come back again.

5. Bring Multiple Sunglasses

This might seem a strange suggestion to some, but when you see the number of sunglasses left behind at the beach or the pool, you can see why it is recommended. Most repeat visitors advise that it is wise to bring multiple pairs of sunglasses so that even if you lose one pair, you have another pair of sunglasses with you.

Make sure that you don’t bring expensive sunglasses with you or some that you wouldn’t be heartbroken to lose. It’s very easy to lose sunglasses on vacation, as you can absent-mindedly leave them behind in the restaurant or get them washed away in the waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

6. Take Family Pictures

When you’re all relaxed as a family, tanned in the sun, and sitting together to enjoy the beautiful views of the beach, don’t let the moment pass you by. Get a professional to capture the beautiful moments so that you can cherish them for a long time. You don’t need to hire a professional photographer for that, but don’t forget to take lots of pictures as a family.

You came to make new memories at your Myrtle Beach vacation, and taking plenty of pictures allows you to something you can look back at and remember the great time you had here.

Happy Family

7. Reward Good Service

There are plenty of resorts and restaurants that will provide you with excellent services throughout your Myrtle Beach vacation. You should appreciate that and be kind to the waiters and staff at your hotel and restaurant by being generous with the tip. Most employees in the service industry will bend over backward to provide you with excellent service and help you enjoy your vacation, and you should reward them for their efforts.

Good service should always be rewarded, and when you tip generously, you are going to be remembered the next time that you come to vacation at Myrtle Beach. That will ensure you get the same great service as last time, and your experience isn’t going to be hampered in any way.

8. Be Cautious On the Road

The roads can get very crowded during the height of the summer season at Myrtle Beach, as there are thousands of people. Locals and visitors will be trying to get around town, and you must take that into account when planning your activities or when visiting attractions. Leave plenty of extra time to get to your destination, especially when visiting in the summer season.

You should always watch out for motorists and other pedestrians on the road as well. A good piece of advice is to use alternate routes whenever that is possible to help save time and allow you to reach your destination without getting stuck in traffic.

Cautious On Road

9. Do Your Research

You’ll need to have excellent research skills if you want to make the most of your Myrtle Beach vacation. There are so many activities and attractions here, making it impossible for people to visit all of them in one trip. There is also great variety when it comes to the resorts in Myrtle Beach, and you will need to choose one that best fits your budget and your needs.

So, make sure you compare all the amenities offered by the vacation rentals, along with the rates being charged. That will allow you to book a condo that is ideally located and not far away from the amenities and attractions you want to visit in Myrtle Beach.

10. Enjoy and Relax at the Beach

The number one attraction in Myrtle Beach is the beach, and there are plenty of fun activities that you can enjoy right here. So, soak it all up and enjoy it to the full because Myrtle Beach is a destination that allows you to make the most of your vacation. Thousands of visitors visit Myrtle Beach every year, so make sure that you plan your vacation, keeping that in mind.

If you don’t want to interact with many people, then plan a visit in the off-season, as that is when you won’t have to deal with a lot of crowds. This will mean you get to enjoy the beach and relax in comfort with fewer people around so that you can make the most of your Myrtle Beach vacation.

Seven Reasons Why You Should Spend Thanksgiving in Myrtle Beach | Palmetto Vacation Rentals

It is nearing the end of November and you know what that means! Thanksgiving is approaching – bring out the turkey, green bean casserole, and pecan pie. For many, Thanksgiving is a time to gather with your family and friends. With schools off and offices closed, that long-awaited weekend you have been looking for is about to arrive.

How about you change it up this year? Instead of staying home – pack up your family, your friends, or your significant other and head on down to Myrtle Beach!

Why come to The Grand Strand this Thanksgiving? We here at Palmetto Vacation Rentals are going to give you SEVEN reasons why:

  1. Memories, Memories, Memories – One of a Kind! Looking to make lasting memories with your friends or family this Thanksgiving? If you are anything like me – some of the best memories I remember from my childhood were on family vacations! Before moving to Myrtle Beach, our family would visit the Grand Strand at Thanksgiving time to escape the snow in New York, spend quality time together, and enjoy all that the area had to offer. Children are off school, and you most likely have an extra day off from work that will enable you to enjoy that much-needed long weekend. How awesome would it be to take a vacation with your loved ones this holiday and do something different?

  2. New Experiences – Did you say Bluegrass Festival? Shout out to anyone who enjoys bluegrass music – this upcoming Thanksgiving weekend the Myrtle Beach Convention Center will be holding the 50th Anniversary South Carolina State Bluegrass Festival! Beginning on Thursday, November 28th and running until Saturday, November 30th, this family festival will be featuring the Sons of the South, The Crown Brothers, Carolina Blue + 38 more popular bluegrass artists. Never listened to any bluegrass music? This festival will be the perfect opportunity to expand your music palate! Tickets beginning at $22/daily general admission. Click to see schedule and more information.

  3. Activities with the Community: Participate in the 13th Annual Myrtle Beach Turkey Trot. Join over a thousand local and visiting runners this turkey day at the Grande Park at The Market Common. There will be multiple races available for anyone interested in participating – 5k, 8k, One Mile, and Tot Trot race for kids. Thanksgiving does not just have to be all about the food! Get your running shoes on and sprint your way to victory this Thanksgiving. Click here for details.

  4. Skip the Cooking, Dine Out in Style this Thanksgiving! Myrtle Beach is notoriously known for its delicious and award-winning restaurants throughout the area. With over 1,600 restaurants – there is something here for everyone to enjoy. For Thanksgiving, many places along the beach will be hosting Thanksgiving Specials! For those who do not enjoy cooking or just want a break this holiday – come taste your favorite Thanksgiving dishes without the cooking hassle. Below are several restaurants that are hosting Thanksgiving specials this holiday: Hook & Barrel | Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen | Carolina Roadhouse| Original Benjamins| House of Blues
Don’t see anything you like? Call our office at 888-808-2788 anytime for more restaurant ideas!

  5. 34th Annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta Boat Parade. Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has always been part of my family’s traditions for Thanksgiving. Why not just watch a parade on television this Thanksgiving but witness one (boat style!) on your vacation while in Myrtle Beach. Come watch the annual Intercoastal Christmas Regatta Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. This event is hosted by Yachts for Tots of North Myrtle Beach/Little River – a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the children in Horry County who are unable to get full assistance from traditional agencies in the area.  For locations of where the parade can be seen click here.

  6. Shop Until You Drop – Black Friday Style. Myrtle Beach is one of the top places to shop along the East Coast! The Market Common, Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing are just a few of the top shopping destinations in the area.  There are also two Tanger Outlets featuring over 100+ brand name stores such as Under Armor and New York & Company perfect for your shopping needs. In addition to the outside shopping areas, The Coastal Grand Mall, located right by the Myrtle Beach International Airport is also the second largest mall in the state. You will not be disappointed with the fantastic deals and available places to shop this Black Friday!

  7. Christmas is in the Air! Get ready to enjoy Myrtle Beach’s holiday entertainment on your next vacation.  If you are not a fan of anything revolving around Christmas before December begins than this point is not for you. But for those of you that have been listening to Michael Bublé Christmas album on repeat, shopping at Hobby Lobby, or watching any Christmas Hallmark movies – than Myrtle Beach is the place for you to come to this holiday season. Witness world champion ice skaters perform to popular holiday tunes on Christmas on Ice. Enjoy the Carolina Opry Christmas Special featuring over 35 Christmas trees and award-winning vocalists! Feast your way through a Myrtle Beach’s popular Christmas at the Pirates Voyage. The options are endless here on The Grand Strand!

If you got excited for at least one of the seven reasons as to why you should come to Myrtle Beach this Thanksgiving, then you should heavily consider making that trip down (or up!) to South Carolina’s top beach and tourism spot.

Homemade Chicken and Dumplings

4 tablespoons butter divided
2 carrots diced small
2 stalks celery plus their
leaves diced
1 onion diced
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
divided
4 cups chicken stock/broth
1 cup whole milk divided
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves or
1/2 teaspoon dried, plus more for garnish
2 cups cooked diced or shredded
chicken
extra salt and pepper
  • Saute the carrots, celery, and onions in 2 tablespoons of the butter in a large pot over medium high heat until browned and soft (about 3 minutes).
  • Add 1/4 cup flour, stir to coat.
  • Add chicken broth (4 cups) and bring to a boil.
  • Turn the heat down to simmer and add 1/2 cup milk and the chicken. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Meanwhile, to make the dumplings, mix together the remaining 1 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves. Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, melted, until flour mixture is crumbly looking. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of milk and stir until JUST combined. Do NOT over mix, or your dumplings may be dense.
  • Add spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture to the simmering pot- I recommend using a small cookie scooper (or tablespoon)
  • Cover and simmer on low for 15 minutes, or until dumplings are fluffy, cooked, and float to the top. No peeking!
  • Serve garnished with extra fresh thyme and fresh ground pepper, if desired
